For over 130 years, Corbridge Cricket Club has been a key part of its local village community in rural Northumberland. We provide an attractive sporting and social venue where people from all ages and backgrounds come together to play and watch cricket, and get involved as volunteers. We run 10 men’s, women’s and junior teams for all ages, many people coming down to visit the ground and watch matches in the height of the summer. We encourage young people to take part by providing coaching and junior teams, and working closely with local schools. We are all volunteers, working hard to support a sporting club which gives a lot of pleasure and fulfillment to local people.
Storm Desmond hit the North East of England hard on 5th December 2015, and took our club pavilion with it. The field was flooded to a depth of 4 feet and we lost all our playing equipment. After a difficult season managing to accommodate teams in the loft of our current changing facilities, we are raising funds for a brand new pavilion. We are very grateful to all those who have already supported us as we have recovered from the flood, and have enough money from grants, insurance and donations to construct the building. It will be built on stilts to combat any risk from future flooding.
We are now fundraising towards the cost of kitchen and bar equipment and tea room and bar furniture. Please donate whatever you can to help our cause!
