Story
Shocked at the sight of abandoned babies in the streets of London in the early 18th century, Captain Thomas Coram campaigned for 17 years to start the country’s first children’s charity. Thomas Coram championed for the welfare and rights of vulnerable children and changed how the world treated them. His vision foreshadowed the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, predating it by 250 years.
Yet, his incredible story is virtually unknown. We want to change that by giving every child in the country the chance to read how a man from humble beginnings helped create change that lasted a lifetime for hundreds of thousands of children.
So we’ve decided to create a book and send a free copy to every school in the UK in time for National Tell a Story day on 27th October.
We need to raise £46,000 to do this. Any amount, large or small will help, but if you donate £25 you will receive a personal copy of the book with our thanks.
For people who want to help more we are offering two special rewards.
The first 50 supporters to donate £150 will receive a copy of the book personally signed by Robin & Albany, the author and illustrator.
Strictly limited to the first five supporters who donate £1,000 or more is the chance to have a named dedication on the inside cover of the first print run.
Both of these offers are on a first come first served basis.
However, whatever you choose to give will make a real difference and help us to tell Captain Coram's incredible story.
Please give your support today and share with friends and family.
Thank you.
