Story
Meet Team Cerebra and our very own Superhero’s! Poppy and Rhys :)
Poppy was born with quadriplegic cerebral palsy and chronic lung disease. She can’t sit, stand, roll or support herself and life is a daily challenge for her. But having a life-limiting condition doesn’t stop Poppy having fun! Poppy is a determined character with a great sense of adventure; She is a real thrill seeker and adrenaline junkie and has a true competitive spirit. Poppy had a dream to take part in Triathlons with her dad Rob.
And, Rhys - Our new little Superhero - is a 5-year-old happy little boy, He has cerebral palsy, Hydrocephalus, gastrostomy (peg fed), epilepsy, chronic lung disease and other little problems. However, this does not stop Rhys! Rhys, his dad Anthony and Kevin were inspired to do the Superhero’s Triathlon after Rhys's sister had her first Sports day. At the end of all the races they called for the 'siblings' race. Rhys wanted to race! His dad held his arms round him, kicking his legs forward as if he was running himself. He was loving it!
With a lot of determination from both of our superheroes and a little help from the design team at Cerebra creating some very special equipment we are ready to go!
Our Superheroes will be competing at a first of its kind disability triathlon on August 19th at Dorney Lake, Windsor - The Super Hero Series! Here team Cerebra will be racing alongside 2000 athletes of all abilities, and some famous names too. We would like to invite you to join Team Cerebra on their journey and to help enable similar opportunities for more everyday superheroes. This is a very exciting but expensive venture, a donation to help cover these costs would be massively appreciated and help get our everyday superheroes to enjoy the adventure of the amazing day.
Thankyou for taking the time to read this, Lets get our Superheros to the Series! The Cerebra Team :)
