Story
There are around 7 million unpaid carers in the UK - that's 1 in 10 people. 3 in 5 people will become a carer at some point in their lives. Caring can put strain on relationships and can result in isolation and loneliness as well as having an impact on finances. All too often carers let their own health suffer so that they can take care of their loved one.
Who we are
Carers Trust is a major charity with, for and about carers. Every year, we provide support to around 500,000 people in the UK who care, unpaid, for loved ones who are ill, frail, disabled or have mental health or addiction problems. We do this by providing advice, support and respite through our network of local Carers Centres and Schemes and through our grants programme.
We also offer specialist services for carers of people of all ages and conditions and a range of individually tailored support and group activities for those with specific needs, such as young carers and carers of individuals with dementia.
These are a just a few ways running with Carers Trust will make a huge difference to unpaid carers across the UK:
£15 could provide a place at a Carers Trust local carers service, where a carer can take part in a range of activities from arts and crafts to sports.
£25 could go towards a dedicated mentor who can offer support to a young carer while they are at school.
£75 could save an exhausted carer valuable time by going towards a washing machine or dishwasher - a vital piece of equipment for a carer.
£100 could give peace of mind to an anxious carer by going towards a series of counselling sessions.
