Story
An incredible 40,000 runners are set to pound the streets of London on 22nd April to run the iconic Virgin Money London Marathon. With thousands of people lining the roads to scream your name, this event really is like no other.
It's set to be a record-breaking year for fundraising, with Cancer Research UK aiming to raise £1.7million from this year's event! With no government funding, we rely solely on the generosity of supporters like you to fund life-saving research to beat cancer sooner.
So what does a donation mean for Cancer Research UK?
£15 covers the cost of one visitor seeking health information on one of our mobile awareness units, helping them to take the steps to reduce their risk of cancer and go to the doctor early with any concerns.
£20 is the cost of running Cancer Chat for 1 hour, helping thousands of people through very difficult times. Cancer Chat is a moderated discussion forum and a safe online space to discuss any aspect of the disease.
£50 buys a scientific sieve to separate out big bits and small bits of DNA to reveal vital clues about how to beat cancer, sooner. Tiny molecules that might play a role in cancer, but would never be seen by eye, can be identified with a machine that separates them out using electricity.
These are just a few examples of what your donation or fundraising could go towards. However you choose to support us, thank you for helping us bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
