FEB 2019 UPDATE: £1,133 raised in text donations - thank you!
Money raised as part of this campaign will be shared between the charities: St Mungo’s, BHT, Nightstop, Equinox, Antifreeze, The Clock Tower Sanctuary, YMCA Downslink Group and YMCA Brighton. All money donated will go directly to people sleeping rough and will be used to provide food, access to shower facilities, healthcare, clothing and support from outreach workers to move people away from the street as well as a wide range of practical help to suit individual needs. No funds raised will be used for administration of the charities.
Make Change Count is supported by Brighton and Hove City Council, Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner and Sussex Police.
If you are concerned about someone sleeping rough in England or Wales, you can use the Streetlink website to send an alert. The details you provide are sent to the local authority or outreach service for the area in which you have seen the person, to help them find the individual and connect them to support (www.streetlink.org.uk or 0300 500 0914). Outreach workers are experienced in supporting people to move away from the streets.
The Make Change Count campaign has been running since 2016. The campaign continues to raise much needed funds for local organisations to support their work in moving people away from the streets. The money raised in 2017 has been split evenly between the partners and been used to provide direct services to homeless men and women.
