Story
Poor Dorothy is lucky to be alive after being found dumped in a park with gaping cavities the size of golf balls in her abdomen. The young French bulldog has been used for breeding before being callously cast aside like rubbish once her owner no longer had any use for her. She is a true fashion victim.
Dorothy developed a breeding-related infection called mastitis, but her owner failed to seek treatment for her and the condition has sadly gone untreated for far too long. The sick 18-month-old dog was dumped in a box on a south London common and left her to fend for herself. Dorothy's veterinary care will cost our charity around £2,000.
Named Dorothy by our charity’s animal hospital team, this sweet girl is now in safe hands at Blue Cross. Our vets and nurses are tending to her weeping wounds, caused by the untreated infection. We’re making sure she is getting all the care, medication and food she needs to overcome her ordeal.
Once Dorothy is healthy, our rehoming team will find her a loving home where she will never know suffering again. Our rehoming centre team will make sure she has tasty food to eat, her vaccination course is completed, and she is safe and warm. Our behaviour team will also work with Dorothy to help her overcome her nightmare past and discover what it means to be a happy pet rather than a profit-making breeding machine. This will cost us around £500.
Please give what you can to help us get Dorothy back on her paws. She has been through so much as deserves to enjoy life as a pet.
Dorothy is just one of the animals who desperately need our help day in day out. Your donations will be used to get Dorothy back to full health and find her a loving new home. The total estimated cost to treat and rehome Dorothy is £2,500 – any donations over and above the cost of treatment will go toward our work helping other sick and homeless pets.
Dorothy’s case has been reported to the RSPCA.
