Story
By riding in the TD Five Boro Bike Tour Presented by REI, you’re joining an incredible group of people who believe in the power of the bicycle to improve lives and communities.
All New Yorkers should have the opportunity to learn how to ride safely and confidently—for transportation, for health, or just for fun. Thanks to Tour riders like you, Bike New York was able teach bike skills to more 17,000 kids and adults last year. We’re proud to be the largest free bike education program in the country, and enthusiasm for life on two wheels is growing—our classes regularly fill up and waitlists are extending into double digits.
As the 40th Anniversary of the Tour approaches, we want to celebrate by continuing to empower the next generation of cyclists through free, high-quality bike education programs designed especially for New Yorkers.
Here’s what we can do if every TD Five Boro Bike Tour rider raises $40:
· Hire five full-time managers for our school programs in the Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island.
· Buy 10 mobile bike fleets: two for each borough.
· Work with thousands of NYC school teachers to integrate our simple and effective Bicycle Education Curriculum into their teaching plans.
As a result we estimate that we’ll be able to teach bike skills to 75,000 kids. All for $1 per mile.
We’ve partnered with JustGiving, the world’s No.1 fundraising platform, to make raising $40 easy and fun. They have all the tools you need to hit your target, including customized social media content. (Who doesn’t love a fun GIF?)
Tour riders like you know how bikes can change lives. Together, we can change more lives than ever before.
