Story
Oxfordshire is facing a loneliness crisis. Over 30,000 over 65s live alone and the number of people aged over 85 is projected to double over the next two decades. Loneliness and isolation are major issues for vulnerable elderly people in Oxfordshire, but with your support we can help elderly people live the full life that they deserve.
Aspire Oxford has launched The Oxford Big Tea Party on Friday 16th June in partnership with Cutteslowe Community Association. This event will bring isolated elderly people together for an afternoon of entertainment and socialising, where they can make new friends and feel part of a community again. Both charities run vital community transport services for elderly people which are a lifeline in reducing isolation and promoting independence. But these services are under threat of closure in the coming months, leaving Oxfordshire's elderly population extremely vulnerable.
Funds raised will go towards helping both charities maintain and expand their vital community transport services so that we can meet the needs of a growing number of isolated elderly people. By sponsoring a place at the table, you can give local elderly people the support they urgently need.
We are asking for a suggested donation of £50 to sponsor a place at the table. We are very grateful to Oxfordshire Community Foundation for match funding this appeal up to £2,500. If you would like to volunteer at The Oxford Big Tea Party please contact helen@aspireoxford.co.uk Thank you very much for your support.
