Story
We need your help to build an installation for this year’s Lumiere Durham.
Local artist Mick Stephenson has been commissioned to make a piece for Durham Cathedral. It will be a rose window with a difference, made from thousands of plastic bottles. For a minimum donation of £2 you can add a bottle, or for £5 you can add a special message in a bottle. The proceeds raised from building Litre of Light will be shared between two worthy causes:
My Shelter Foundation uses pioneering technology to bring light to homes without electricity across the world.
Durham Cathedral has been place of worship, welcome and hospitality for almost a millennium. The UNESCO world heritage site requires constant conservation and upkeep so it can be enjoyed by people now and in the future
Members of Brownie packs have begun collecting bottles for the installation. With your donation, more communities will have access to light and you can preserve one of Britain’s best-loved buildings.
Donate today, grow the rose!
