Story
"My name is Michelle Knight and I am the matron of the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre.
Our specialist Centre provides a range of free out-patient support services to people with a life-limiting condition, and their families, in the Fens. This includes clinical treatment, day therapy and complementary therapies for patients as well as bereavement and support services for families and carers.
The Centre also provides clinical advice & support to palliative patients being treated on the adjacent Trafford Ward in North Cambs Hospital. Since opening in 1998, the Centre has supported many people who have appreciated the ability to have their treatment in a friendly environment close to home. With demand for our services increasing, and the needs of patients becoming more complex, we need to expand and redevelop our building and extend the services we can provide.
But we can’t do this alone – we need your help.
We have drawn up plans to provide our patients and their families with the best environment we can to match our high standard of care. This includes:
- Space for private consultations giving improved privacy and dignity
- More treatment rooms with equipment to support patients with complex needs
- Dedicated complementary therapy and diversional activity rooms
- A sensory garden
- Increased Hospice at Home services to improve end of life choices
- Rooms to support more patients and their families each day.
Thanks to the generosity of three local trusts we have raised £225,000 of our appeal target but need your help to raise a further £50k to help turn our vision into a reality.
