Story
Here at the Avon Riding Centre for the Disabled, we have pretty special horses.
Take Spike, the little grey pony with one black ear. Every week, he takes 12 vulnerable riders out to the woods to enjoy being outdoors, helps them to enjoy the challenge of learning to ride and gives them the unique physiotherapy that only horse-riding can offer.
He's "bomb-proof" enough to support riders who have difficulty communicating and learning and responsive enough for them to learn the skills they need to control a horse.
He's wonderful, and without him and other horses like him, we couldn't help the 300 riders who come to the Centre every year. Riders like Ewan and Annabella.
Sadly, we don't have enough horses like Spike. We urgently need 5 more horses just to keep working at the level we are operating now. And if we want to help some of the 191 people currently on our waiting list, we'll need even more.
A horse costs around £4,500. Please help us find some horses that can help people!
