Story
On April 16, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in Ecuador destroying roads, bridges, and power supplies to the regions surrounding the Esmeraldas province. A state of emergency was declared across six provinces in Ecuador as the death toll rose to 663 people and left over 20,000 people without adequate housing.
Volunteers have been assembling temporary shelters, clearing debris and unsafe structures, are constructing a community center to serve displaced persons, and has begun their permanent core homes project.
As we embark on the long journey to help Ecuador rebuild and recover, there is still an incredible amount of work to be done. In forever challenging circumstances, we are devoted to helping affected communities regain a sense of normality and, most importantly, live safely. We can only do this with the help of people like you, people who also care and want to help the people of Ecuador build back better to avoid such widespread devastation in the future.
