Story
For those in recovery, Christmas can be a particularly challenging time, surrounded by people celebrating with alcohol, and for those whose relationship with their family may have broken down, feeling isolated and detached from the celebrations.
Positive connections and recovery communities can make a huge difference at this time of year – we know that these networks can contribute to sustained recovery from substance dependence, and helping people feel loved and supported. Unfortunately, these services and connections can be disrupted over the festive period, with time and management constraints.
This Christmas, ADS want to make an impact and help those who might be in need of that extra support, advice and help. We don’t want people to feel lonely and unhappy at Christmas, or of fear of relapse – by raising £1,500 we can provide three people to deliver mutual support services over the telephone every evening, and on weekends during this festive period.
