Prolonged heavy monsoon rains and rivers overflowing have caused devastating floods in the north-east region of Bangladesh, causing loss of lives, widespread destruction to property, crops, livestock and the displacement of millions. Vulnerable people have been left stranded without essentials such as shelter, food, medication, clean water and electricity.
