Story

UPDATE - LA Fires - 14 January 2025

Dear community,

Thank you for your outpouring of generosity. We reached our fundraising goal early, surpassing our expectations! $131,000 is a huge achievement, and these funds will be used to support the initiatives outlined below.

In light of the devastating fires here in Los Angeles, everything donated after January 7 will be distributed among our students, faculty, staff and alumni displaced by the fires. Resources and updates may be found here.

Additionally, our clinic and school remain fully operational. Our campus remains open and is a safe, peaceful space for anyone who needs a moment of respite.

The Community Clinic Group Acupuncture hours are extended; come in for FREE acupuncture, seven days a week, 10a - 6p.

As a non-profit organization, Yo San University relies on generous donations and competitive grants to meet our annual financial goals ensuring that we may continue to offer high quality, low-cost education to our students while providing accessible and affordable acupuncture and integrative care to the community.

Emerging from the financial challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, our immediate, short term goal is to raise $125,000 through this online campaign.

Over 36 years of excellence | Half a million treatments in compassionate care

Established in 1989, Yo San University continues to be a leading center for Traditional Chinese Medicine education and healthcare, offering a fully accredited Master's degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine, a postgraduate specialty doctoral degree in both Women's Health/Reproductive Medicine and Integrative Medicine, and the newly approved entry-level doctorate program, the Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine.

The Yo San University Blount Community Clinic provides quality and low-cost acupuncture care and Chinese medicine services to the local community, as it has throughout our history. Specialty care is also provided in Women's Reproductive Health, and for Whole Health & Longevity.

The contributions from this fundraiser will go directly to supporting the growth of our Library and Learning Resource Center, providing Student Scholarships, renovating our Herbal Pharmacy, expanding Community Outreach, and more. Join us on YouTube to learn more about these exciting initiatives!

In collaboration with our clinical externship partners, our outreach programs bring the benefits of acupuncture and integrative care further into the community, especially low income and underserved in the Los Angeles area. Since the year 2000, our clinical programs have provided over 300,000 free or low-cost acupuncture treatments. Our current clinical partnerships include Being Alive Los Angeles, The LAC+USC Wellness Center in Boyle Heights, Venice Family Clinic, and Wise & Healthy Aging in Santa Monica. In 2023, we opened a donation-based group acupuncture clinic on campus, and we are currently developing two new doctoral externships at Stairway Recovery Homes in Sherman Oaks and Covenant House near downtown Los Angeles.

Yo San University boasts its global reach through many successful graduates and alumni practicing across the U.S and over a dozen countries around the world. Our faculty and doctoral students are engaging in groundbreaking research and publishing in peer-reviewed journals, being recognized as the best in the field.

You can help nurture the next generation of exceptional acupuncturists and provide affordable integrative healthcare to our local communities and beyond. This JustGiving Campaign marks the start of a three-year initiative aimed at transforming higher education in Chinese medicine through the YSU student experience.

Since our 2023 JustGiving Campaign, thanks to your generous support, we've begun expanding and renovating our herbal pharmacy, enhancing our library and student resource center, and maintaining our leadership in student scholarships and faculty development.

This year we are building on the initiatives launched in 2023.
