Story
First Tee Greater Baltimore is a youth development non-profit organization focused on providing opportunities to the youth of Baltimore through the game of golf. The Chapter operates from five Baltimore City facilities: Forest Park, Mt. Pleasant, Pine Ridge, Carroll Park, and Clifton Park Golf Courses, providing a low-cost public course option for the city's youth.
Although First Tee - Greater Baltimore delivers introductory golf programming to youth from ages 6-16, the organizations main focus is to create a safe space where youth can build healthy relationships, and grow socially and emotionally with their peers.
Students that participate in the First Tee program learn nine core values: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgment. Through these core values, coaches create scenarios and activities that simulate real life interactions. Students learn how to communicate effectively, the importance of time management, how to control ones emotions, how to make friends, how to work well with others and how to improve relationships within their family and community.
The Young Professionals Board is aligned with First Tee - Greater Baltimore's mission of helping provide opportunities to Baltimore youth. Through their involvement in the community and personal networks as Young Professionals in the Greater Baltimore area, they are focused on helping provide awareness and financial support to the Chapter by fundraising for our year-end campaign until December 31st.
This year, the goal for the Young Professionals Board is to raise $10,000 to purchase golf clubs for the students that participate in our programs at our Clifton Park and Forest Park locations. All proceeds raised go directly to First Tee Greater Baltimore and help strengthen the Chapters programs as they continue to provide opportunities for Baltimore youth.
