Story
Every year, young people arrive in Oxford alone and away from home for the first time.
Some are students with huge opportunities ahead of them.
Some are asylum seekers and refugees who have fled persecution, war and horrors in their own country, endured traumatic journeys and arrive friendless and scared.
Asylum Welcome is an Oxford-based charity that for over 20 years has worked with newly arrived, unaccompanied asylum seekers and refugees, providing social activities, friendly faces and expert advice and assistance. It is difficult work and urgently needs your support. We work with lawyers to present claims for asylum, we act to alleviate homelessness, we support education and adjustment to British culture, we safeguard health and wellbeing, we promote confidence and seek better opportunities. Oxford's university community has long welcomed people from around the world, promoted tolerance and human rights and celebrated the creative contributions that difference and diversity bring.
Asylum Welcome's Youth Solidarity Campaign asks a new generation of young students to show solidarity with young refugees.
Donate to this page. Organise fundraising socials. Tell your friends why it is important to support the rights of young refugees.
If not you, then who?
