We believe that everyone has a right to a home, regardless of the difficulties and issues they may face in their lives. We also believe in showing those who need support that the wider community is there to help and to offer hope for a better future.
Our ultimate aim at York Road Project is to support anyone experiencing homelessness into permanent accommodation. We recognise that not everyone is ready to live independently and support them with any difficulties creating barriers to accessing stable accommodation.
With 'our ultimate aim' in mind and working with the local authorities we have an opportunity to get more people than ever into permanent accomodation. We will support these individuals, individuals who currently don't have the items needed to make a house, their home. We shall support them on their journey into their new permanent homes with the items they need to start getting settled.
Cath Stamper; Chief Executive of York Road Project:
An empty house is not a home, it is vital that our clients feel safe, settled and secure with all the furnishings that you and I may have. By donating here you will directly help us build that home.
Simply walk through your house and look at those things you cannot live without let alone the little details that make your house a home.
All those things we seem to take advantage of, from a washing machine or fridge freezer to a 2 seater sofa or even something as simple as a kettle. Our extensive list of products that we shall be buying and setting our clients up with is below:
Washing machine, fridge freezer, Oven with hobs, 2 seater sofa, television, cutlery set, dishes, bin, pots and pans, tea towels, a tin opening, toaster, kettle, toilet brush, towels, single bed base and mattress, bedding, chest of drawers and curtains.
You'll agree there are many other items we have not listed but we recognise we have to start somewhere. Something as simple as a hoover or a small rug for instance, everything adds up.
