Story
Five dedicated members of the Battens family, including our very own Trainee Solicitor Isobel Swann, are taking part in the Yeovil Half Marathon to raise vital funds for the Battens Charitable Trust.
Isobel says: "Although this will be my second half marathon, I am really looking forward to the challenge again as a beginner. I am excited to experience the atmosphere of the day, as I remember that being the main thing that kept me going last time! I have always been passionate about bringing awareness to local charities, so I am thrilled to be fundraising for this cause. "
The Battens Charitable Trust was set up in 1985 to enable grants to be made to registered charities and for charitable purposes in Somerset, Dorset and adjoining counties. In the last decade alone, the trust has donated approximately £537,000 and counting. Beneficiaries have been as diverse as local schools, youth organisations, hospitals and hospices, local foodbanks, wildlife organisations, disability groups and the arts.
As we celebrate the trust’s 40th anniversary in 2025, we are more determined than ever to continue its legacy of giving back. Every step we take in the Yeovil Half Marathon is dedicated to ensuring that this incredible work continues for decades to come.
Your support means the world to us. Every penny donated will directly contribute to transforming lives and uplifting our local communities. Whether big or small, your generosity fuels this mission of hope and compassion.
Join us in running toward a brighter future. Together, we can celebrate the Battens Charitable Trust’s milestone anniversary with the gift of making a difference — one step, one donation, one life at a time.
