Story
The situation in Yemen is the world's worst humanitarian crisis.
Over 24 million people, approximately 80% of the population, are dependent on humanitarian aid.
Yemen's infrastructure has been destroyed from five years of conflict, cholera and starvation. 10 million people in Yemen are living with extreme hunger. Half of all health facilities are damaged or unable to function and the country has been suffering from a record cholera outbreak since 2017. It is our duty to put a stop to this tragedy.
COVID-19 poses a uniquely high risk for Yemen, causing an emergency within an emergency. The UN warns this could delete Yemen off the map. At this critical time, your donations are a lifeline.
Muslim Hands are on the ground with two offices in Yemen and reaching people in some of the worst-affected areas providing emergency aid and implementing long-term projects.
Here are ways you can help:
1. Emergency Food Parcel - food prices are rising and low income households are unable to stock up on goods for quarantine or self-isolation, with COVID-19 threatening food availability. For £100 you can provide a food parcels to feed a family for a whole month.
2. Feed A Child For 1 Year - nearly 2 million children in Yemen are severely malnourished. Just £150 will provide a child in Yemen with nutritious school meals for the academic year.
3. Mobile Medical Clinic - only 51% of health centres in Yemen are functional. There is a lack of basic equipment like thermometers, ventilators and PPE. There are only two testing sites for COVID-19 in the entire country. £300 will cover the running of a fully-equipped mobile medical clinic for a whole day, serving the most vulnerable and isolated communities.
4. Deep Water Well - one of the most water-scarce countries in the world, with 16 million people not having access to clean water and sanitation. £500 will provide a share in constructing or rehabilitating a deep water well, providing communities with clean, safe water and sanitation.
The blessed people of Yemen are suffering, which means we are all suffering too. Your donations can alleviate their distress and help them cope with the Coronavirus crisis.
