Story
Even before the conflict, Yemen was one of the poorest countries in the world, with access to adequate food and safe water a problem for more than half the population.
Since the violence erupted in March 2015, the humanitarian needs have escalated at an alarming rate. As the conflict continues, the enduring lack of fuel, food and medical supplies is deeply affecting the majority of the country's people.
CARE is on the ground in Yemen and reaching around one million people a month; were scaling up our response to stop the coronavirus from reaching vulnerable families, and our amazing team in Yemen is working extremely hard every day in exceptionally difficult circumstances to help those who need us the most. Hunger and famine are a direct result of war and can only fully be eliminated by bringing the conflict to an end.
We are reaching out and helping by ensuring there is safe drinking water as close as possible to households, providing hygiene kits along with basic necessities, and distributing cash vouchers for food.
You can find out more about how this is impacting people in Yemen on our website, and a dedicated Yemen Crisis page here.
