Story
2022 is year of the Tiger
Did you know one of the main threats to tigers is poaching? Hunters trap or shoot them for their skin, bones and canines, for use status symbols overseas and in traditional medicine. A reduction in prey availability due to deer poaching, as well as habitat loss due to expansion of oil palm; coffee and acacia plantations; and smallholder encroachment, also threatens these big cats.
We are working closely with local communities to provide training for dedicated forest rangers to conduct anti-poaching forest patrols - removing snares and deterring forest crime, while engaging positively with the community.
To coincide with the latest Year of the Tiger, FFI has joined forces with five other leading conservation organisations under a shared vision: Securing a Viable Future for the Tiger.
With your help we can see more rangers on the ground and more tigers in the forests.
