Story
To mark World Suicide Prevention Day, we are inviting those in our community to enter teams of 4 to take part in a walking relay through Norfolk and Waveney.
How does it work?
Each team will choose a route from the list below (ideally one closest to their locality), set their fundraising target and complete their walk on that given day...it is a relay after all! Each team member will receive a Mind, Norfolk and Waveney T-shirt, goodie bag and medal.
Why take part?
Norfolk and Waveney Mind are busier than ever, 60% of adults and young people who did not experience poor mental health before the pandemic are now experiencing mental health issues. By taking part in this challenge you are helping us ensure that no one has to face a mental health problem alone, whilst also helping us to raise awareness and reduce the stigma associated with mental health.
Services that rely on funds raised from our supporters taking on challenges like this include our suicide prevention and complex bereavement services, which provide free suicide awareness and intervention training, 1:1 practical and emotional support for individuals bereaved by suicide, peer group support for those bereaved by suicide and peer group support for those bereaved through the COVID 19 pandemic.
Challenges like this also provide a great opportunity for participants to come together, for teams to train together, to talk, to build a sense of community and forge friendships and bonds that last long way beyond the challenge itself.
