Story
This year, our World Suicide Prevention Day campaign, Hope Lives Here, aims to bring communities across Norfolk and Waveney together to raise awareness of suicide prevention, tackle stigma, inspire hope, and raise vital funds for our local services. The campaign is centred around a simple but powerful message: hope is present in our communities, support is available, and no one should have to face mental health challenges alone.
We know that suicide continues to have a devastating impact across our region. Approximately 90 people die by suicide in Norfolk each year, affecting thousands of family members, friends, colleagues and wider community members. We also know that many people who are struggling may not seek support because of stigma, isolation or a lack of awareness of the help available. Through Hope Lives Here, we want to encourage more open conversations about mental health and suicide and ensure people know where they can turn for support.
To raise awareness and tackle the stigma, we’re inviting you to do 90 minutes your way. For every person lost each year, we move together for hope. It could be 90 minutes of walking, running, cycling, paddle boarding, swimming, gardening, painting - the choice is yours!
By joining us and raising funds, you're supporting vital mental health services in Norfolk and Waveney. Whether you take part in memory of a loved one or are supporting a cause close to your heart, your fundraising makes all the difference.
Your support can help people like Nicole, who received support from our Suicide Bereavement Service following the loss of her partner Martin to suicide.
