Story
Kerry, one of the Wren Project's trustees, has organised a team of 20 fabulous friends and family to hike the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge in honour of the Wren Project and to help us reach our summer fundraising campaign target of £25,000
On the 1st July 2023, the team will set out to walk the 24 mile continuous route, with a total ascent of 1585m. The Yorkshire Three Peaks takes on the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres) in under 12 hours.
The goal is to set off at 6.45am and finish by 6.45pm. The Wren Project is incredibly grateful, honoured, and starstruck by these twenty friends and supporters donning their hiking boots and climbing not one, but three peaks in just twelve hours! Please donate to the team and help the Wren Project continue our vital work in ensuring that no one faces life with autoimmune disease alone.
Over the last 2 years the Wren Project:
has supported hundreds of people with autoimmune diseases cope with the distress, loneliness and isolation caused by diagnoses, and living with a long-term condition.
We've given these users our Wrens over 1279 hours of free 1:1 listening sessions, with the help of over 50 volunteers. We know these sessions have been a lifeline.
Let's do more
We want to keep supporting our Wrens, but also need to do more:
- We are training new volunteers, to reduce waiting times and make sure less people face a devastating autoimmune diagnoses alone.
- We're making our services even more responsive and collaborating with top researchers to explore the most effective ways to help people with autoimmune conditions with their mental health and wellbeing.
- And we're looking at ways to build a community, and support our Wrens, after their initial 1:1 sessions, because we know the impact of autoimmune conditions is for life.
All of this takes time, energy, compassion and money. And to do it we need investment in increasing our team of dedicated and highly-trained volunteers, in developing our group and peer support service, and in making sure there are enough people at Wren HQ to keep the charity growing and thriving. There are busy times ahead.
