Story
Every month across Jamaica, thousands are pregnant or newly postnatal, navigating the most vulnerable months of life. Today, they face an emergency that threatens safe food, clean water, essential hygiene, and newborn care.
Our goal is simple and urgent: deliver dignified, trauma-informed support to every perinatal family we can reach — non-perishable foods, hygiene and sanitation (including menstrual items), basic clothing/linens, and newborn care bundles with essential supplements. These packages align with global humanitarian standards (Sphere) and the Minimum Initial Service Package for sexual and reproductive health in emergencies, adapted for Jamaica and delivered with local partners.
Why this matters:
Jamaica recorded around 52,000 births last year, and at any moment roughly 91,000 people are pregnant or within 12 months after birth. When disasters strike, existing disparities deepen. Global evidence shows that younger and marginalised people face the greatest mistreatment and rights violations in childbirth.
We are committed to respectful, consent-based, culturally rooted care — and to safeguarding at every step.
This is also a climate- and racial-justice moment. The Global South bears the brunt of extreme weather supercharged by emissions from the Global North, and Black women and families worldwide continue to face disproportionate harm when systems fail.
When you give, you are not only meeting urgent needs — you are standing for equity, dignity, and accountability.
Your donation helps provide:
We’re focusing on practical, dignity-centred aid for mothers, parents, and children recovering after Hurricane Melissa.
All items are sourced or distributed through trusted local partners and align with global humanitarian and sexual- and reproductive-health (SRHR) standards.
