Story
In 2022 we successfully installed jacking pads underneath Avro Shackleton WR977, which allowed us to install refurbished jacks under both wings of the aircraft. In turn this allowed us to make the aircraft safe; helped to mitigate issues with the main undercarriage structures; and allowed us to reopen the aircraft to the visiting public.
We now need to undertake further work on the front section of the Shackleton. This includes: sealing the main cockpit glazing; in-depth cleaning; conservation of, and the painting of this area of the aircraft.
So that we can undertake this work in a safe and secure manner we need to install as temporary scaffolding structure around the nose of the Shackleton. The current aim is to hire the required scaffolding for ten weeks; from the end of July through to the first week of October.
In these challenging times we would like to seek your support to help fund the costs associated with the hire and regular safety inspections of the scaffolding.
We hope that you might feel able to support this project.
