Story

At this year's WPA Dinner, we're raising funds for LandAid, the property industry charity with a mission to end youth homelessness.

It is unknown exactly how many young people experience homelessness each year in the UK, but estimates suggest in the UK, every 4 minutes a young person becomes homeless. Last year alone this equated to nearly 118,000 16-25 year olds. There are likely thousands more hidden homeless, choosing to sofa-surf, sleep on public transport or present to charities, rather than presenting to their local authorities.

It doesn't have to be this way.

Life events mean that homelessness will always be a risk, but when it occurs there must be a positive pathway for young people experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness to find a stable place to call home. That's why LandAid's grants strategy is composed of three programmes, allocating funds to three different kinds of project, each providing a different service for young people with different needs: emergency accommodation, supported accommodation, and move-on accommodation.

With your support, we can make a difference to the lives of young people across the country.
