Story
Despite producing enough food to feed everyone, more than 800 million people still go hungry every day. This hasn't gone unnoticed by you with nearly 70% of UK adults believe we are currently in a global food crisis.
Sunday 28 May is World Hunger Day, an opportunity for all of us around the world to play our part in ending world hunger, for good.
THE FACTS
- 820 million people, 1 in 9 of our global family are living in hunger.
- Two thirds of the worlds hungry are women.
- Only 8% of UK adults believe they’ll see the end of hunger in their lifetime.
On World Hunger Day we ask you to envision a world free from hunger. A world that's equal and sustainable. A world where everyone is living healthy, fulfilling lives of self-reliance and dignity.
Let's work together to create a more just and sustainable food system, where everyone has access to healthy, affordable food.
At The Hunger Project we believe people are extraordinary. We work to empower people living in hunger to become agents of change, lifting their communities above the poverty line, for good.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
This World Hunger Day support sustainable solutions to hunger and poverty. Invest in empowering people living in hunger, to end poverty in their communities for good.
Hunger is not only a problem of scarcity, but of inequality and unsustainable systems. The funds you invest in The Hunger Project today will address the systemic issues that keep hunger in place. Here are just a few examples of where your money could go!
£105 could support a woman’s participation in a multi-day Women Leadership Training in South Asia. Women attend these residential trainings to learn and explore ways they can take leading roles in the development of their communities. Together, they develop plans for income opportunities, decision making strategies, political engagement and more.
£120 could support a volunteer leader in Africa to attend a health and nutrition training. In this training, Health and Nutrition volunteers — called Animators — learn essential nutrition actions that will improve health in their communities. Each of these Animators in turn trains their neighbours, building health and nutrition for entire communities.
£3,000 could support 30 volunteer leaders in Africa to attend a food security and agriculture training. Each of these Animators in turn trains their neighbours, building food security for entire communities, reaching up to 4,000 local farmers each year.
Give NOW to end hunger, for good.
