The foundation has been set up to raise funds to build an elementary school in his memory on land donated by his family in his home village Malkaa Dhagaa-Gudar (Guder), Oromia, Ethiopia, support Oromo families in the diaspora and improve educational opportunities in rural communities in the Oromia region.
