Ian is immensely proud to have been appointed the High Sheriff of Worcestershire for 2025/26.
Having lived in the county since very young, he ran the College Yard based accountancy practice Rabjohns for many years, merging it with the South-West firm Bishop Fleming in 2011. In the last few years of his working life he was the Chair of Bishop Fleming.
Ian is truly embedded in the community of Worcestershire; he acts as a trustee for five local charities and chairs three of those. He recently retired as a Governor of the University of Worcester.
Ian lives in a house that he and his wife Lit - who sadly passed away in 2022 - built nearly 30 years ago on their small farm in the Teme Valley. He has two children, and his daughter and three-year old grandson live next door.
During Ian's year he intends to continue with a number of excellent projects initiated by the three High Sheriffs before him. In addition, his main project will be introducing “Getting Court” to Worcestershire. This is a successful programme already running in some other counties in which groups of school students visit live Crown Court sessions. It has unique impacts, providing a greater understanding of Law and Order and the judicial system, alongside some life lessons from people who have made bad choices. Over time it has been proven to help crime prevention and provide potential inspiration for career choices in the areas represented in the Court.
Ian wishes to connect with people who are linked with Worcestershire schools to get local young people involved in the programme.
He hopes to provide an entry from Worcestershire to the National Crimebeat competition, run by the High Sheriffs’ Association. Its purpose is to give recognition to the most innovative and successful crime prevention projects carried out by young people. Ian would like to hear of any such project in Worcestershire, and invites people to contact him with details.
Ian would also welcome contact from individuals or organisations that might benefit from his support during his shrieval year, particularly in the areas of crime prevention, victims of crime and helping the development of vulnerable and underprivileged young people.
