Story
No matter what you've been told, no matter what they think, no matter what they see:
You are Important. You are Powerful. and You are Beautiful.
And you are so much more than the limitations, stereotypes, and snap judgements that the world lays at your feet.
We're on a mission to to show you, and the world, just how much women and their unique stories matter.
The global pandemic has turned our world upside down, causing widespread uncertainty, despair, and desperation across the globe. Disconnection, financial stress, job loss, illness, and death surround us, and most of us are struggling every day to simply survive.
And on top of all this, the underlying systemic issues in our society - ones that in normal times were far easier to pretend didn't exist- have finally become impossible to ignore.
Vulnerable women have been disproportionately affected during this global crisis, and it's our job, our mission, to do something about it.
Woman United is focused on finding hope for a united path forward, creating a world where every woman, no matter her class, race, country, or occupation, is celebrated for her unique value, beauty, and power. Through our creative campaigns and grants to grassroots organizations who are making a difference around the world, we are helping to empower women and remove the barriers to their success.
Our first portrait campaign is focused on bringing hope to the marginalized working women on the island of Bali showing them, and the world, that they are MORE THAN just their station in life.
Through our campaign, we are funding a special grant for Bali Mother and Baby House, a safe haven for abused, neglected, and abandoned women and children, where they aim to nurture, guide, and nourish those in their care toward a better life - a life filled with love, hope, and health. Kristina, one of our first Chapter's portrait subjects, works day after day to help us carry out this mission by helping the women and children in her care rise above the hand they have been dealt.
But in order to continue our work, Kristina, the women and children of Bali, and women around the world like them, need your help.
Your donation will allow Woman United to raise the funds to carry out our mission in Bali, up next in London, and around the world, and help fund our Bali Mother and Baby house grant which helps pay for their operating costs, critical medical care, education, training, and supplies - allowing them to survive during these unprecedented times.
And if enough funds are raised, to ultimately empower them to thrive far beyond when the pandemic has passed.
Please give today, for our daughters, our mothers, our sisters, our ancestors, our future: united.
When people feel validated, when they're seen and heard, and what they're saying means something to you - they feel like they're not alone and that they matter. That is the deepest desire we all share - is to matter. And that's the way to make hope real for anyone in the world. Make them matter. - Oprah
ABOUT WOMAN UNITED
Please follow us on Instagram at @wearewomanunited and learn more about us at womanunited.org
Every woman has a powerful story that lights her from within, but this light goes mostly unnoticed by the world around her - and most tragically, by even herself. Throughout her life, the light is even further dimmed by society's perceptions of beauty, her own self-doubt, and the hardships and demands of her life. Because of this, women never truly see their own radiant beauty.
But when we take the time and care to hold space for her, hear her story, and truly see her - this beauty clearly shines so brightly even she finds it impossible to deny.
Through transformative images and multimedia, Woman United aims to hold high a mirror to illuminate the resilience, power, and true beauty of the Woman within: for her, for her daughters, for her community, and for the world - united.
Our mission is to help every woman and girl discover what makes them uniquely powerful and beautiful, and to serve their communities in the process through grant to local organizations fighting the good fight on the front lines.

CHAPTER ONE: THE WORKING WOMEN OF BALI
The women of Bali, both Balinese and Indonesian alike, are the beating heart and soul of the island, carrying the weight of caring for their families and community through their labor and seemingly endless supply of hope, light, and positivity. Their inner and outward beauty shines brightly upon all those around them, and their energy makes Bali an incredibly special place.
But during these unprecedented times, that light has begun to dim. The enormous stress of job loss due to the mass exodus of tourists - an industry almost 90% of the island depends on for survival - has begun to show in the worn looks on the working woman's faces.
We want to help bring a little bit of light back.
In Chapter One of Woman:United, we tell the story of the working women in Bali through creative portraits and film. Our goal is raising funds to financially ease their struggle, and empower them, along with other women and girls in the local community.
Our part, our calling, is to take a long term view by tackling the systemic and soul-level issues that have been illuminated during this time, issues that have been both created and exacerbated by the crisis: feelings of despair, isolation, and fear; acute and long-term environments of neglect and abuse; and pervasive social systems and long-held beliefs encouraging views of low self-worth, lack of self-love, and disempowerment of women and the working class. These issues have all run rampant for too long, and are only becoming more apparent as the crises progresses.
But we believe that when these deeper issues of the soul are attended to and nurtured, long lasting and widespread change can occur.
We've already seen the massive shift in the minds, hearts, and lives of the women we have photographed, and our hope is that this chapter, this movement, will create a ripple effect of the same around the island. We want to not only ignite a shift in the way the women of Bali see themselves, but the way their daughters, their sons, their husbands, their parents, their peers, their leaders, and the tourists who visit this special island, see them as well: as the beautiful, strong, powerful, and magical women that they are inside.
Your donation will help create this change.

BALI MOTHER AND BABY HOUSE GRANT
Our grant to Bali Mother and Baby House is focused on four critical components of moving a surviving woman to a thriving woman
1. EDUCATION
Education is critical to breaking the poverty cycle. £100 will help pay for school registration and supplies for one of the girls in their care for six months. The girls schooling has been disjointed due to family trauma. The pandemic has only made this worse.
2. MEDICAL CARE
Without essential medical intervention the long term consequences of abuse causes devastating lifelong limitations. £75 will help pay for urgent and medical appointments for two of their teenage girls in need of treatment due to abuse and neglect. BMBH needs at least £2000 pounds to pay for ongoing psychological, genitourinary, and gynaecological treatment.
3. EMPLOYMENT TRAINING
The mental benefits of employment cannot be overstated, in addition to the empowerment of economic independence. £50 will help single mothers attend a skills development program for a month so she can be employed.
4. NUTRITIOUS FOOD
The mothers and children are underweight and prone to illness. A nourishing diet leads to healthy minds and bodies. £25 will help buy fruit and vegetables for the mothers and children in their care for one week.

UP NEXT: CHAPTER TWO: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SURVIVORS IN LONDON
Our next chapter will be in 2021 in London, where we will work with female survivors of domestic violence, an issue that has become more and more dangerously prevalent due to COVID. The UN states: The pandemic has also led to a steep increase in violence against women and girls. With lockdown measures in place, many women are trapped at home with their abusers, struggling to access services that are suffering from cuts and restrictions. Emerging data shows that, since the outbreak of the pandemic, violence against women and girls and particularly domestic violence has intensified.
We will tell the stories of 10 resilient women who have risen from the ashes of abuse, and illuminate the unique beauty and power in their scars.
Your donation will help fund this chapter and the ones to come.
