Story
In 1994, the original Winter Party was organized, featuring a single event: a dance party on the beach to raise funds to fight back against a direct anti-LGBTQ decision that prevented any municipality or county in Florida from legislating equal protection based on sexual orientation. Dennis Leyva, Ignacio Martinez-Ybor, Clark Reynolds and Stewart Stein brought people together to create this instant hit and Winter Party has grown ever since, becoming an iconic week-long festival featuring dozens of events. The Festival draws crowds by the thousands from around the globe to raise money to protect LGBTQ+ people and build upon the wins our LGBTQ+ community has accomplished together.
Since the National LGBTQ Task Force began producing the events, the Winter Party Festival and its sister event, The Task Force Gala, have given back over $3.3 Million further the work of grassroots LGBTQ+ organizations in South Florida, thanks to our guests.
The National LGBTQ Task Force builds power, takes action, and creates change to achieve freedom, justice, and equity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people. In 2023, we will celebrate 50 years of fighting for LGBTQ issues intersecting with racial justice, reproductive justice, and disability justice making it the longest-serving LGBTQ organization in the country! As the progressive voice of the LGBTQ movement, the National LGBTQ Task Force organizes young people, people of faith, advocates, organizers, activists, and money to pursue liberation for all.
With your donation, we will build power for LGBTQ people, especially Black, Indigenous, people of color, disabled people, and all marginalized communities. You'll make it possible for us to take action by working with our partner organizations, activists, and allies in Washington, DC, to defend marriage equality and advance nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ people ending discrimination in employment, housing, and healthcare.
Let's celebrate this momentous year by coming together to build power and play!
