Story

Now, as winter edges closer, we are focusing our efforts onto rebuilding homes and infrastructure. We need to rebuild communities, offering people safety and security. Millions of homes were destroyed, damaged beyond repair, or severely impacted by the floods, leaving over 33 million people without shelter. Without the safety of a home, this winter could claim even more precious lives. Donate to our Pakistan Floods Appeal to keep people safe and warm. In winter, many regions experience bitterly cold nights, snow, and frozen rain. Combined with increasing poverty, a lack of food and shelter, millions struggle to stay warm. Donate to our Pakistan Floods Appeal to rebuild a home.

Key facts:

- 33 million people left homeless

- 1 billion livestock animals drowned

- 1/3 of the country under-water

Pakistan Floods Appeal

The monsoon season of 2022 delivered the heaviest rainfall Pakistan has witnessed in decades. As a result, there was severe flooding all over the country, leaving one-third of Pakistan under water. Over 33 million people lost their homes, while livelihoods were also destroyed as 1 billion livestock animals drowned. Over 1,500 were reported to have died, though the official figure could be much higher. Millions of people were left sleeping under the open skies on the sides of roads, without food, clean water, or medical care. Now, millions face their harshest winter yet. Children of Adam have been on the ground providing life-saving food, water, hygiene kits and shelter through our Pakistan Floods Appeal.

There is no right for the son of Adam except in these things: a house in which he lives, a garment to cover his nakedness, a piece of bread and water. [Tirmidhi]
