As we head towards Winter, we're already seeing an increase in our costs and a dip in donations. All of the costs involved with running our kennels, our safe haven for our dogs, has increased, from heating, to water, to food and cleaning supplies, everything is costing our little rescue more and more. Yet there are more dogs than ever needing our help, putting significant strain on our charity and volunteers.
We currently have 105 dogs in our care, and our dogs rely on us to keep them safe, warm, fed and loved. Please help us this winter, your support will enable us to continue to save the lives of dogs in our local council pounds.
Many of the dogs arriving with us from the pounds are underweight and/or need expensive vet treatment such as surgery for tumour removals and dentals. This is probably why the dogs are being dumped, because of the cost of living crisis and the struggle with costs.
We currently owe around £10k to vets, it mounts up so quickly 😞 The majority’s is for neutering, with no dog leaving us unneutered or vaccinated this is something that can’t be avoided, as well as any surgery and dentals they need.
We’ve had a few desperate situations that needed urgent attention so unfortunately these costs are unavoidable.
With the rising cost on everything the running costs at Tegfan is constantly creeping up, leaving little left for much else.
The majority of our incoming dogs are unclaimed strays that just keep arriving which in turn put a huge strain on our finances.
With 109 stray dogs coming into our small rescue since 1st January, and only 14 being claimed by their owners, our resources are continuously being stretched to their limits.
We do our best but won’t compromise on our dogs well-being.
Please donate and support us this winter, if you can. Thank you very much. We cannot continue to save the lives of dogs in council pounds without your support.
