Cal Poly Humboldt Giving Day 2025 · 2 April 2025 ·
Support the Wildlife Graduate Student Society (WiGSS), a student-run organization supporting the graduate student community within the Wildlife Department at Cal Poly – Humboldt. We support peers through a small grant program and the entire wildlife graduate community through various on-campus events.
The primary goal of WiGSS is to provide funding to help offset the cost of expenses for graduate students presenting at and attending professional conferences, as well as purchasing lab and field supplies for their research. WiGSS distributes these small grants each year to help absorb research and professional costs that would otherwise fall on us graduate students ourselves.
WiGSS also supports on-campus events, including the EcoSeries speaker series, where we invite members of the greater wildlife community to present on their recent projects. These weekly presentations are open to all and expose students to various wildlife methods, research topics, locations, and organisms. We also coordinate professional development workshops and social activities to support peer connections among the greater Humboldt wildlife community, often through partnerships with graduate students in other departments, undergraduate clubs, alumni, and local community members.
WiGSS is run entirely by graduate students in the wildlife department who volunteer their time and effort. We are very appreciative of any support you are willing to provide to our community!
