Teaching the Wildlife Department's hands-on curriculum remotely - a change necessitated by the 2020 pandemic - has posed some special challenges and we are asking for your help! In our program, binoculars, spotting scopes, and trail cameras are a big part of bringing our students closer to the wildlife that we teach students to study. We're asking for your help in making this happen.
We would love to be able to loan enrolled students a pair of binoculars, scope, or trail camera so we can keep teaching them critical field skills like bird and mammal identification, behavior, and population biology - but we're a bit short of our goal.
"Providing students with field equipment like binoculars, so that they can fully participate in hands -on experiences, even when teaching remotely is a way we can engage students in appreciating and learning about wildlife at a time when we are all facing such big and unexpected new challenges," says Wildlife Department Chair Daniel Barton.
The Wildlife Department currently teaches over 350 wildlife majors, so this is a big challenge and we could use your help! Your contribution will be matched up to $5,000 by the generosity of our partners, Conservation Unlimited Alumni Association.
Now it's your turn. Thank you for helping us reach our goal of $5000 so we can provide much needed field equipment to our students.
