Story
Wiggly Charity, formerly known as the Wiggly Worm, has been running in Gloucestershire since 2007. We work with people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to help build confidence and reduce social isolation through the medium of food.
Wiggly runs cookery workshops in the community, sharing our love of cookery and food, and focusing on budget friendly, healthy and simple cooking for all.
A Wiggly workshop is about more than just cooking. Time and again, our participants tell us about the impact of our courses on their lives - well beyond the kitchen. They tell us that our Wiggly courses have helped boost their confidence and self-esteem, reduce their sense of isolation or anxiety, and help them form friendships and connections in their communities. Wiggly workshops help build skills for life and enable our participants to regain a sense of independence.
During the pandemic, Wiggly Charity had to diversify to keep on cooking, and like many charities, we were knocked off course. Now Wiggly is building back, and we want to get back to what we do best - empowering people through food.
What our participants tell us:
Wiggly helped me make new friends, learn to cook and be inspired
Wiggly gave me the encouragement to be more independent
Wiggly was one of the best things I’ve done in a long time
I live on my own so it's nice to eat with other people
I used to let challenges overcome me, but this has helped me gain confidence
Help us to help others to Learn, Cook, Share
