Story
Brilliant supporters in Devizes have come up with a new idea to raise money for Christian Aid Week 2019. This year the Week is focusing on mothers in Sierra Leone who suffer from a lack of medical support during childbirth (ten women in Sierra Leone die every day in child birth). They desperately need better access to trained staff and medical centres.
This is going to be a very special sponsored event starting on Saturday April 27 and finishing on Tuesday April 30. The event will begin with a Big Brekkie in Westbury OPEN TO EVERYONE. Many walkers will complete all 4-days of the walk, covering between 12-17 miles each day - a staggering 60 miles in total! Others will join us for one or two legs/days of the hike. En route we will take in eight white horses around Westbury, Devizes, Broad Town, Marlborough, Pewsey and Alton Barnes.
Refreshments and a warm welcome will be provided by Christian Aid supporters along the way, in a selection of cafes, pubs and village halls. Its a wonderful way to involve several communities.
We are hoping that each walker's target will be to raise £200. If you would like to join us and register for the walk please email bristol@christian-aid.org or call the Bristol Office on 01454 415923.
A huge thank-you to the Christian Aid supporters from Devizes who came up with this idea and a huge thank-you to you for sponsoring us!!
