Story
Children and young people with a disability are twice as likely to be inactive as able-bodied children, according to Sport England. Recent guidelines from the UKs Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) state that disabled children should be exercising 20 minutes a day every day and doing strength and balance activities three times a week.
But getting regular exercise can be more difficult for those with a disability. Access to sporting groups and equipment can be problematic. So, it's vital that they have access to their own equipment to stay fit and healthy.
That's why, this summer were inviting you to set your own '10 for 10' personal challenge to help disabled children and young adults across the UK to get more mobile.
It could be taking part in a 10K cycle, challenging yourself to scoot to school for 10 days or doing 10 laps of the local park every day for a month, on foot or wheels. The possibilities are endless!
You can cycle, roll, scoot, run, walk, skip or even swim your challenge if you wish. You may even choose to break your challenge down into bitesize chunks. All that matters is setting yourself a challenge and raising vital funds for Children Today, to help disabled children and young people access vital adapted equipment which could enable them to get more exercise!
