Story
Summary
Severe rain caused intense flooding in Germany and Belgium, destroying homes and towns. Dozens of people have died, and thousands of people are unaccounted for in Germany. This fund will provide immediate relief to survivors and support long-term recovery.
Challenge
Torrential rains caused rivers to overflow with little warning, causing major flooding across Germany and Belgium. Flooding has also impacted downs in the Netherlands and Switzerland. The storm has cut off communications with large parts of the region, and first responders are working on accounting for at least 1,300 people in Germany.
Solution
All donations to this fund will support recovery and relief efforts from this disaster in Western Europe. Initially, the fund will help first responders meet survivors' immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, hygiene products, and shelter. Once initial relief work is complete, this fund will transition to support longer-term recovery efforts run by local, vetted organizations in the region.
