Story

VASL is a local charity based in Market Harborough, providing services and projects to improve the lives of people in our community. These include support for unpaid carers, older people who are lonely and isolated, providing volunteer transport to get people out and about, and activities and information to increase mental well-being. We are a volunteer-involving organisation and most of our work is delivered by trained volunteers.

VASL deliver high quality services funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, Harborough District Council and Leicestershire County Council, with additional support from local organisations, donations and grants.

When I heard about VASL, I thought what a good way to help people who may be lonely. Having now volunteered with VASL for almost 3 years, I find it to be a most rewarding activity as the people are an absolute joy to meet, with such different backgrounds and life stories.

Like all charities we are feeling the strain of rising operational costs coupled with a lack of funding opportunities. Therefore, Wendy is embarking on a walk across red hot coals, in the name of VASL. We aim to raise £500, which will help towards our running costs so we can continue our mission to improve the lives of lonely and isolated people in our community.

Wendy's fire walk will take place on Saturday 13th July at Miserden Primary School. Unfortunately, it is a bit of a journey to support Wendy, however, do not worry, we will be posting regular updates on Facebook.

We welcome any donation, big or small; all contributions will go a long way towards our mission.
