Story
Like many of you, we were shocked yesterday to learn that one of the hospitals that we support, Trafford General Hospital, had been struck by lightning. We were not, however, shocked to learn that the incredible staff behaved as the highly-trained professionals that they are, calmly evacuating patients to other parts of the hospital and keeping everyone safe and secure.
Sadly, the resulting fire was significant, and a large portion of the roof has been very badly damaged. Thankfully, our incredible teams here at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust are ready to rise to the challenge; repair work will begin as soon as possible, and in the meantime our brilliant teams at Trafford General Hospital will continue to provide first-class care to their patients.
We know that Trafford General Hospital is a much-loved part of the community, and as the birthplace of the NHS it holds a very special place in the hearts of many. We have been so thankful for the outpouring of support and for those of you who have asked how you can help. While the immediate repair costs are taken care of, you can show your support with a donation to Trafford General Hospital Charity (part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Charity). Any funds raised will go to wherever the need is greatest at Trafford General, allowing them to go above and beyond in providing the excellent treatment and care that has been showcased in the last 24 hours.
