Story
5th/7th Wells Scout Group is desperately seeking funds to repair the Wells Scout Hut on Kennion Road. The Hut urgently requires renovations to ensure the future of Scouting in Wells. This work includes asbestos removal, new doors, sound dampening, toilet facilities and improving our outside area.
Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated by the volunteers who lead Scouting in Wells, as well as the 110+ young people from Wells and nearby areas who participate in Scouting in Wells every year. Please help us improve our hut so that we can continue to provide Scouting to Wells' young people (aged 4-18) for many years to come, educating them with life skills. Thank you.
In August, we successfully raised £370 by bag packing at Tesco, thank you to everyone at Tesco.
In September, we raised £188 from our first Funday, thank you to everyone who took part.
We successfully raised £129.82 by selling bird feeders at the Wells Environment Network event at the Wells town hall, thank you to all the squirrels, beavers and cubs who helped.
A huge thank you to a local businessman, Ian Weeks, who organised the replacement of our garage store doors - an awesome job.
In November, we had a stall at the One World Fair and another at the Christmas Bazaar and then we received a donation of £200 from the City of Wells Lions Club.
In December, we raised £229 by bagpacking at Tesco. Tesco donated £50 to our cause. A big thank you to Howdens, who donated £210. At the Christmas Fayre in the town hall, we sold our crafts and provided refreshments, in total we raised £261.
We are well on the way to success in 2025!
In the event that either insufficient or excess funds are raised, such funds will go towards renovations and our other initiatives to support the provision of Scouting in Wells.
