Story
We are a group of 13 who work at SARSAS. Our group is a varied mix of counsellors, specialist support workers, admin, and managers. Our organisation supports people who have experienced sexual violence at any time in their lives. We listen, believe and support survivors on their journeys.
In completing the Three Peaks Challenge, we hope to raise money for SARSAS so that we can continue to run our amazing services and support our wider community. We also hope to raise awareness of the difficult and often tumultuous journey that victim-survivors take toward healing. In this vein, our uphill mountain climbs across the nation have parallels to the uncomfortable, overwhelming, and often exhausting process of coping and healing from trauma. It is not always linear, and it may often feel like we want to give up altogether. But with support, there is hope that we can see our own capabilities, and to look back over our shoulders and see how far we’ve come.
We climb for every person who has felt they can’t see a way forward or can’t find a way to push through. We climb for each person who puts one foot in front of the other, each day, despite their fear and sadness. We climb with each survivor in mind.
