Wear, do, make or bake something purple in recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, and donate to Age UK Solihull to help us to support vulnerable older people in Solihull.
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is on Sunday 15 June, and we are inviting you to wear or do something purple on or around this date to raise awareness and funds for Age UK Solihull.
Elder abuse is a hidden issue that affects thousands of older people every year – including right here in Solihull. It can take many forms: physical, emotional, financial, or even neglect. Too often, it happens behind closed doors, leaving victims isolated, afraid, and unheard.
At Age UK Solihull, we’re working tirelessly to change that.
We support older people in Solihull with life-changing services: from advice and advocacy, to befriending and safeguarding, to ensuring they are treated with the respect, dignity, and care they deserve. But we can’t do this alone.
That’s where you come in...
🟣 Wear Purple on or around 15 June
Whether it’s a tie, a scarf, a t-shirt, or a whole outfit – wear it proudly and share your photos with us on social media using #WEAAD2025.
🟣 Host a Purple-Themed Event
Bake purple cupcakes, hold a purple dress-down day at work, or decorate your windows or workplace with purple balloons and bunting – whatever purple fun you can dream up!
🟣 Donate to Age UK Solihull

Every older person deserves to feel safe. Together, we can be the voice they need. We can provide that lifeline. We can help ensure no older person in Solihull suffers in silence.
This World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, wear purple for dignity. Wear it for change. Wear it for those who need us most.
