Story
Worcestershire Community Foundation, one of the county's major funding bodies, is setting up a new public appeal to support Ukrainian refugees who are being hosted by local families across the county.
With the number of Ukrainian refugees settling in Worcestershire set to total more than 550 mainly women and children, the Foundation is working closely with local district councils and community groups to ensure that local donations to this appeal go to directly meet the needs of those being hosted by local families. Funds raised could also go towards helping host families support those staying in their homes.
Chair of WCF, David Shaw commented: 'At WCF we are really keen to play our part in helping to ensure that the lives of those coming to Worcestershire from war-torn Ukraine receive the best possible care and support during what is undoubtedly an extremely stressful time for them. We are working with local agencies to ensure that any funds raised go to those who need it most and make the greatest impact on helping them rebuild their lives whilst living in Worcestershire. We are urging individuals and businesses to support this initiative to the best of their ability so we can really make a difference.'
The Fund has already received a generous funding pledge from the Bransford Trust .
Funds raised could support areas of need from mental health, english language teaching support, social activities or legal services.
