Story
This year the Club and Ladies captains of West Byfleet Golf Club have chosen The Eikon Charity as the club's main charity partner. As well as organising a series of fundraising events throughout 2022, they will also take on a personal challenge. The ladies captain, Linda Portlock, will take on a virtual walking marathon with five of her fellow members and the club captain, Tom McMahon will play 100 holes in one day covering a marathon distance.
Eikon is extremely honoured to be chosen as the West Byfleet Golf Club Captains Charity for 2022, especially as this year they are celebrating the 100-year anniversary of West Byfleet Golf Club.
Founder and Chief Executive of The Eikon Charity, Chris Hickford MBE, stated:
We are only able to help the large number of young people that we do because of the support of kind and generous people. We are so grateful to the fantastic members of West Byfleet Golf Club for choosing Eikon as their charity of the year.
Mens Captain, Tom McMahon and Ladies Captain, Linda Portlock stated:
We are really pleased to have Eikon as our charity partner for 2022. Based under a mile from our clubhouse, Eikon support children and young people to overcome difficulties, become resilient and thrive. Over the last couple of years, the number of young people in need of support, both in schools and in the community, has increased significantly. Eikon are playing an important role in addressing this in our local area. We hope members will join us in giving them their support.
The Eikon Charity provides much needed support to young people in Surrey who are showing early signs of poor emotional wellbeing or mental health. These young people can be struggling with a range of serious challenges they might be experiencing anxiety, loneliness, family loss, or be victims of bullying or abuse.
By providing a safe place for young people to turn to, Eikon helps prevent unnecessary harm and even saves lives. In partnership with schools, communities, health & social care and other organisations, Eikon supports young people to develop the skills to respond positively to lifes challenges and thrive.
Please do show your support of these two extremely tough Captain's Challenges by giving generously to Eikon enabling them to reach more young people in Surrey in desperate need of support.
