Washing Machine Appeal

Our main washing machine is showing some serious wear and tear, and we know that even with all the best will and ongoing repairs, it has a VERY limited lifespan!

Story

This machine does all the washing for our kennels. Hygiene is incredibly important as it helps to minimise the risk of infection and disease spread. For example, some dogs arrive at Ferne in poor condition. Do you remember lovely Milo? He was taken out of a horrendous situation. He arrived with wounds on his body, was covered in scabs and urine scald, and his claws were growing into his feet. He was in such a lot of pain. Yet still his eyes were shining with excitement, and he didn’t complain at all. As well as antibiotics and pain relief, Milo needed frequent medicated washes and regular fresh bedding to get his fungal infection under control and prepare him for the happy life he deserved.

The machine doesn’t only look after our kennels though! It is also used to wash horse rugs and all the bedding for our small furries such as ferrets, rabbits and guinea pigs.

It really is a serious grafter!

And when it is unusable, which has happened a lot recently, it causes our animal care team a big problem and a huge backlog of laundry builds up within just one day.

We believe that leasing a machine is the best option for us as we would then have breakdown cover, and an 8 working-hour engineer response guarantee on any day of the week. This would mean no potential downtime to impact on the team and the welfare of our animals.

We need to raise £9500 to cover the cost of a washing machine and dryer for two years!

Please donate if you can. You will be making a huge difference to animals in need!
